Cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito

Half Day
Pick up a bike from Fisherman's Wharf where rentals are abundant. A large variety of bikes are available and our recommended rental companies provide helmets and bags for water and belongings, as well as lockers (day rates are approx $32). Once you're fully kitted for the trip, with a map in hand, you'll set off for the cycle across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Plan to arrive in Sausalito for brunch or lunch and allow 1.5 to 2 hours for the cycle with plenty of stops.
The waterfront area of Sausalito has a vacation feel and is home to shops, restaurants, cafes and art studios. A favorite local ride is to Sam's Restaurant in Tiburon for lunch or drinks on the huge (and very entertaining!) outdoor deck. If you've come from San Francisco, expect another hour's worth of pedalling, or get the ferry to Sausalito and pick up your bike here.
Ferries can be taken back from Sausalito (Golden Gate Ferries) or Tiburon (Blue and Gold Fleet). Please ask the concierge or your bike hire shop for return ferry times so you can plan ahead and pre-purchase return tickets during the summer months. Please note that if you plan to take the ferry back be sure to rent manual bikes, as the electric bikes are not permitted on the ferries.
