Next up, drive through the verdant hills dotted with paddy fields to Chiang Mai, the country’s cultural northern hub, surrounded by mountains and lush countryside. There is so much to see and do here in Thailand’s second largest city. You could easily spend days just exploring the myriad of beautiful temples. We have included a fascinating guided tour that will immerse you into Chiang Mai’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions. Rise early to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, located high above the city, where you’ll witness an incredible sunrise and watch as barefoot monks begin their procession. Walk around the pagoda and golden stupa, before continuing to Wat Umong, famous for its maze of tunnels and caves, and finish with a traditional blessing from one of the monks.
The famous Night Bazar is a must, a treasure trove of market stalls, the air spiced with the tantalizing smells of sizzling street food. We also recommend hopping on a bicycle or in a tuk-tuk and heading out into the stunning countryside to explore ancient ruins shroud amongst bamboo jungle and vines while stopping in at local village communities for a refreshing coconut and bite to eat.Where to stay

October to May is the best time to visit these areas of Thailand with generally dry and sunny days that are perfect for exploring and relaxing on the beach. A fantastic time to visit Thailand is during Songkran from 13-15 April when the whole country turns into a big water fight and this is a really fun experience.
