South Africa is a year-round destination with Cape Town at its best from September to April. The summers are generally warm and dry, while winters tend to be cool and temperate. Neither season experiences extremes of temperature, thanks to prevailing winds. Summer (Nov-Mar) is the hottest with temperatures 20-40°C. Mid-season (Apr, May, Sep, Oct) temps between 10-30°C. Winter (from June- Aug) is the low season with temps 0-25°C.
Namibia is a year-round destination although seasonal variations may mean you prefer to travel in certain months. The main dry season runs from April until October, with temperatures rising throughout the year, making November and December the hottest months. From November until March, the rains fall and rivers flood and subside in a matter of hours, refilling vital underground water sources in this desert country. The early months of the year are beautiful if you don't mind the odd rain shower, with clear air, and desert flowers blooming to carpet the dunes in color. Regardless of time of year, the temperatures fluctuate vastly from morning til night, so don't be surprised if there is frost on the ground in the mornings, and temperatures reach the thirties or forties in the daytime.
Botswana’s dry season runs from May to September, and the Okavango Delta is in flood between June and October, providing prime game-viewing as wildlife is generally restricted to islands and land by the heightened water. The weather during these months is hot during the day, but it isn't a stifling heat, and cold at night. The summer months (Nov - Mar) can be hot and humid and there is a chance of rain. Botswana has one rainy season which runs between mid-December and runs through to mid-March.
