Before The Ultimate Travelling Camp arrived, accommodation here was limited to simple guesthouses. Today, travellers can immerse themselves in Nagaland’s rich heritage by day and return each evening to a haven of comfort and elegance.
The camp is centred around the Hornbill Festival, held each December in the nearby village of Kisama. This vivid celebration unites all 16 Naga tribes through dance, music, and colourful displays of traditional dress. Against a backdrop of emerald valleys and mountain streams, guests can experience local culture firsthand, from craft demonstrations and storytelling to sampling rice beer and authentic Naga cuisine.
After a day of festivities, retreat to your luxurious tented suite, complete with handcrafted décor, crisp linen beds, and en suite bathrooms. Each tent comes with a personal butler, ensuring every detail is taken care of. Dining is a highlight, with menus inspired by local recipes and served in atmospheric surroundings overlooking the foothills of Mount Japfu.
Stays typically range from two to four nights, allowing time to explore beyond the festival. Visit nearby Kigwema Village, trek through the pine forests, or unwind with a sundowner as the sun dips behind the hills.

When to visit
With your private guide, make sure you go to the Hornbill Fesitval before it starts at 10am. I'd recommend going around 8:30 in the morning to watch the different tribes get ready for their performances. This is a fantastic way of learning about them and taking photos
