Les Chalets du Mont d’Arbois, a Four Seasons Hotel
Megève, France
For your luxury holiday to the super chic ski resort of Megève, choose Scott Dunn. In this secluded corner of the French Alps, you can indulge in exhilarating snow sports beneath the awesome peaks of the Mont Blanc massif.
The ski resort of Megève in the French Alps is renowned for being a sophisticated retreat for the elite. The aristocracy flocked to the area after it was founded by Baroness de Rothschild in the 1920s. The resort quickly became an exclusive skiing destination, and it has retained its reputation for delivering first-class experiences for both French and international skiers.
Megève is in the Haute-Savoie department of south-eastern France. At 1,113 metres rising to 2,350m, it's not a high resort. However, its proximity to Mont Blanc means it often has better snow than other resorts at a similar altitude. Set close to the border with Italy and Switzerland, it's well-connected for those planning to travel around the Alps. At Scott Dunn, we can prepare a personalised itinerary that takes you from your Megève ski holiday to the slopes at Chamonix or Courchevel 1850. Geneva is also close by.
As well as outstanding skiing and bespoke service throughout your holiday, you can enjoy the village's charming and rustic mix of mediaeval architecture and smart chalets. In Megève, you'll also find fabulous restaurants – eight with Michelin stars. Pretty horse-drawn carriages trot around the streets and can take you to the ski lifts, although free shuttles are also available.
In addition to being popular and glamorous, the village still operates as a traditional community. There are many farms in the area, with some tucked away in the side streets. The resort tends to be fairly quiet during the week, with the pace ramping up at the weekend. However, it always retains its quintessential French feel.
Whether you're looking for a ski weekend in Megève or an extended holiday on the slopes, this is the perfect destination for an exclusive getaway.

Megève, France
You'll have plenty of opportunities to tailor your trip to your ability. However, here's a mini Megève ski guide to give you a snapshot of some of the more popular runs and areas.
Little wooden chalets, tiny hamlets and wide pastures make this a truly scenic resort in which to ski. Megève is ideal for families, with terrain suiting both beginners and intermediates. The main ski area is Mont d’Arbois, where there are several runs. There are wide and confidence-building greens that are ideal for beginners, while the long blues and reds winding through the trees tempt intermediates.
There are also options available for more advanced skiers who want to challenge themselves on tougher gradients. Skilled skiers have easy access to the steepest pistes at Mont Joux and Mont Joly and can get up a good speed down the Women’s World Cup downhill course at Côte 2000.
If you're an expert, you'll love the steep and partly ungroomed mogul slopes of Mont Joly. The Grand Chamois begins at the top and offers an adrenaline-fuelled black run for advanced adventurers. If you're confident, this could be one to add to the list when you hit Megève's ski slopes.
As part of your bespoke stay, we'll provide you with a Megève resort guide who will share local information designed to enhance your experience. However, here are some key tips to help you during your holiday at this illustrious resort.

You can expect the best snow cover from December until mid-April. While there are snow canons on-site that are designed to help should snowfall be sparse, Megève experiences some of the best conditions in this region for those seeking winter sports in the Alps.
The duration of your holiday is totally up to you. You might be looking for a ski weekend in Megève or maybe planning on staying for a week. With a bespoke service from Scott Dunn, we can tailor your trip to work for you.
There's a lot to do if you're a non-skier. Despite being the first purpose-built resort in France, Megève is a traditional Haute-Savoie village oozing charm and sophistication. Set in some outstanding scenery and with the dominant Mont Blanc as a backdrop, it offers a very civilised experience.
The central square's 13th-century church and attractive buildings make it a good place for an aperitif. Designer shops, cafés, restaurants and tiny, winding cobbled streets all make for a resort full of atmosphere and ambience.
There's also a host of activities on offer, from ice skating and hot air ballooning to dog sledding. Towards the end of January, the Megève Polo Masters is played on the ice and is a thrilling spectacle.
Après-ski is sophisticated, with bars, cafés and restaurants becoming busy fairly early on and not stopping until the early hours. The Flocons Village offers traditional, good-value food and is the second Megève address of three-star chef Emmanuel Renaut. If you’re a seafood fan, L’Alpage is worth trying.
Just off the main square is the Club de Jazz Les Cinq Rues, where you can relax late into the evening next to a log fire while listening to local and international acts.
Enjoy a trip to the ultimate elite retreat when you book your Megève ski holiday with Scott Dunn.
