Mexico City rarely gets too hot therefore can be enjoyed at any time of year. The hotter months of May and June, and the rainy season (June-September), when the capital experiences a downpour most afternoons may want to be avoided.
The Colonial Highlands are blessed with a spring-like climate year-round. The average day is brisk in the morning, warm and sunny in the afternoon and cool at night. Winter days are warm (in the 20s C), although you may require a sweater after the sun goes down. April and May tend to be hot and dry. Expect brief afternoon showers 3 or 4 times a week from June to mid-October. Rains are typically heaviest in July and August.
Baja California is a rare destination that offers a great getaway year long. Peak time for travel is when weather is temperate in the low 20ºc range and whale watching opportunities are at their best (late-November to April). This also includes the festive holiday and New Year period. Cool temperatures are ideal for desert adventures and hiking and boating for wildlife viewing and island exploration. Summer (April to September) can be hot and humid but the beaches are less crowded. Summer waters are ideal for snorkelling and diving. Hurricanes are much less common than in the Caribbean, but it is something to be aware of for September and October travel which is considered low season. Baja is blessed with two marine life rich oceans; the Sea of Cortez to the east has a warmer sea temperature than the more exposed than the Pacific Ocean to the west. In the summer, the breeze coming from the Pacific is a blessing.
