The following morning you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the airport for your flight to Alta Floresta. Once landed you will be met by your guide and taken to the wonderful Cristalino Lodge for the next three nights. The Lodge is a magical wildlife destination and conservation project nestled in a pristine private reserve in the Southern Brazilian Amazon rainforest state of Mato Grosso, and is only accessible by boat. The luxurious lodge offers elegant and comfortable accommodation with spacious solar-powered wooden bungalows. Make sure you have your binoculars ready and camera in focus, it is the perfect base for extraordinary wildlife encounters.
The half-day tours take place each morning and afternoon. The activities include canoeing, hiking trails, birdwatching, photography tours, visits to the observation towers, fauna & flora observation and boat trips, all accompanied by the hotel’s specialised local guides to ensure that you get the best out of your experience.
Wildlife is in abundance here, the surrounding reserve is home to an astonishing 580 species of bird, along with an array of butterfly, monkeys, capybara, anteaters and river otters. You’ll need your walking boots to make the most of the extensive network of trails (with distances tailored to you), boats trips will take you to remote spots deep within the jungle and kayaks offer you the chance to explore narrow river channels whilst observing wildlife in complete silence. Clamber up the 50-metre canopy towers, strategically positioned at unique locations within the jungle, to observe wildlife residing at different levels of the canopy and enjoy spectacular sunsets and sunrises over the treetops. After your busy days exploring the rainforest, relax on the floating dock where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the jungle whilst sipping on a refreshing fruity cocktail.
When you’re not out exploring the rainforest make the most of the lodge’s excellent facilities and relax in the evenings with a delicious range of local meals to share under the sparking night sky.

All year round destination. The climate is hot and humid throughout the whole year. Between June and November, it rains less (although it is a tropical rainforest and therefore can rain at any time) and it is hotter. From December to May the rainfall is more intense and the water levels increase and large marshlands form both in the archipelago and on the mainland. The flooded land reaches the highest levels between March and April and the lowest between August and October. When the land is flooded, more areas can be accessed by boat however during the 'drier' season beaches are formed along the archipelago and there is more chance to see wildlife such as caiman and capybaras on the river banks.
