Although the salt flats can be visited all year, they are regularly flooded from late November until April, meaning that itineraries must be altered to accommodate the difficult travelling conditions. The surface during wet season becomes like a giant mirror and is a particularly popular time to travel for photographers! Due to the altitude/elevation, the temperature drops at night and can feel very cold. The Bolivian cities of Sucre and La Paz can be visited year round.
