Located in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, Olinto is a beautifully considered luxury retreat, offering guests peerless levels of tranquillity and privacy. Conceived by Prince Fabrizio Ruspoli di Poggio Suasa, a Franco-Italian antique furniture and art collector, Ruspoli is a pioneer of showstopping Moroccan properties. The mastermind behind Marrakech’s iconic La Maison Arabe, Ruspoli has now brought his design talent to the Berber heartland, transforming a former farm surrounded by olive groves, into a stunning adult-only mountain sanctuary.

Olinto showcases the exquisite artisan skills and craftsmanship of the region, with earthen walls, decorative brickwork, arched windows, stained glass, sinuous ironwork, ornate tiles and intricately carved doors. Ruspoli’s own antiques and artworks adorn the property, and his love of classical music has led to a pianist residency programme. The gardens are a highlight with superb views across the Atlas Mountains, along with courtyard fountains, ponds, romantic pergolas and two communal pools.

Guests stay in one of 9 ultra-private Pavilions, each with a garden, outdoor terrace with mountain views, Wi-Fi, Smart TV with VOD and complimentary minibar stocked with local wine, beer and soft drinks. Three Pavilions also boast a private infinity pool. Guests can dine on a choice of local or international cuisine, with a focus on farm-to-fork seasonal produce. Choose to dine outdoors under a wisteria-clad pergola or stay warm during the colder months in front of the roaring fire of the dining room. In-Pavilion dining is also available. The Art-Deco lounge bar with stained glass windows, comfortable sofas and fabulous views is a great spot for relaxing with a drink as the sun sets over the mountains.

The service is professional and discreet but also relaxed. All the staff are local and can provide expert knowledge of the region and are on hand via WhatsApp for everything from drinks and snacks around the pool to advising on the best hiking trails.

There is a hammam and massage treatments can be booked on demand. Olinto also offers tailor-made experiences for discovering Berber culture. These include guided hiking to meet local villagers, learning about the salt mining industry, and discovering local culture, customs and the region’s traditional way of life. Other excursions include a drive into the mountains with a guide enjoying the epic scenery, vibrant markets, a traditional Berber meal, and chance to visit the Sitti Fatma Waterfalls. For those interested in the local cuisine, Berber cookery classes can also be arranged.
