KAI Matsumoto

Located 2.5 hours by train from Tokyo, KAI Matsumoto is a hot spring ryokan fed by the waters of Asama Hot Spring. Accommodation is offered in spacious rooms with tatami mats and classic Japanese interiors. Some rooms offer outdoor baths and views of the Japanese Alps and all rooms feature a bath, TV, telephone, electric kettle, fridge, safe deposit box, hairdryer, and a toilet with bidet functions. Dinners consist of multi-course kaiseki meals made with seasonal ingredients and breakfast consists of locally sourced salmon, chicken, and mushrooms served with miso paste and a variety of smaller dishes. No Western meals are served. There are several indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths and a lounge where guests can cool down after bathing. Massages are available by appointment. Jazz and classical music concerts are held in the KAI Matsumoto lobby every night when guests can enjoy regional wines and refreshments at the Shinshu Wine Bar.
