Valparaiso
Valparaiso’s cacophony of colourful houses tumble haphazardly down its hills, at once dilapidated yet also home to grand museums and UNESCO World Heritage Sites befitting the city that was once a hub of culture, art and high society. The port thrums with activity, while labyrinthine streets wind around the hillsides, revealing brightly painted cafes, and beautiful views out over the harbour.
Meander through Valparaiso’s maze of streets, stopping for refreshments in quirky cafes and sampling wines produced in the surrounding valleys. Ride an ascensore (elevator) up the steep hills and taste zingingly fresh ceviche in sight of the boats that unloaded it on the harbour that morning.
